Let's pretend, for a moment, that the myth of overpopulation is actually true. Let's pretend the Earth is too full of people. Instead of murdering each other to protect our resources, why not put our full collective power into figuring out how to meet the needs of our population? Why not use our minds and the principles of science to solve the problem? Have we not done this throughout the course of history whenever a problem plagued us? Is that not the mark of a true civilization, to move beyond murdering each other to working together to create solutions? Instead of killing babies, there would have to be a better way to produce more resources to support these lives. And, just perhaps, maybe we all might have to enjoy a little less so someone else might have some...gasp! Say it isn't so, I might have to sacrifice some of my excess, so another doesn't starve! Now, let's return to reality, where the world very well can support all the people on the plant and more. We can still use our minds and resources to create solutions to support those around us, and we all could sacrifice a little of our own comforts so others can have what they need. Thank you for such an interesting read on this one! I will have to add Desmet to my list.
